About the piece: This painting is based on an over a century old print of La Caleta.  The wide brush strokes shares the browns used in Iconic and Symbolic piece; and has ochre yellow, white, greens and the flowing texturised sea tide has hints of metallic teal amongst the base colours. This sketch has a very thick dark brown outline of the Rock of Gibraltar as well as the one storey houses of the time, the tiny beach and of course the sea.
