Piece Title : House on the Hill

About the piece: This piece, as ever, was a spontaneous creation. When I finished, I was instantly drawn to a house on a steeped hill with a winding path. Behind the crest of a valley, tall trees and a blue lagoon emerges, it’s waters almost glacial in stillness,. There is a complete contrast to the land at the front softens into lush greenery, and scattered colour suggesting the unkempt beauty of nature.

Rendered through expressive, gestural strokes, the painting embraces its abstraction. Saturated bold strokes collide, overlap, and dissolve, allowing forms to surface only briefly before slipping away again. Poised between two distinct landscapes. a dark, winding path draws the eye downward, threading movement through the composition. Throughout the painting - the title of ‘Two sides to every story’ spoke to me but, at the end, and quite unusually, I decided to make it more obvious to the viewer to see what I saw.
